Julie Siegel

ARTIST

I received a BFA in studio art from Mill’s College, earning the Royal Society of Artists
award for graduate show. I have taught children art, book making and co-created
teaching programs for children to create books and art, encouraging awareness of
their environment. Early on in my art career I painted cells for "The Popul Vu", an
animated film about the Mayan myth of creation, worked as a street clown and
face-painter, professionally painted signs, illustrated catalogs and designed
                                                               holographic jewelry.

For the last 12 years, I have operated True Faux, a decorative painting business
specializing in exotic finishes, woodgraining, stone and plaster repair and have
also been commissioned to paint murals, children’s play structures, illustrations
                                                               and portraits.

I love the process of making color and line dance, inspired by nature. People and
animals are challenging to portray and I enjoy attempting to capture a likeness
with the energy of the subjects. My passion is painting and drawing, especially
people and animals, recently combining watercolor and pastel in addition to oils
and drawing as a medium. It is a constant source of learning for me.
